Good evening, Paddle People!
It has been a busy summer so far and we still have much more work to do! This is one such opportunity for the TRR crew to shine on a warm summer day.
As part of our Veterans Serving the Community program (https://svtrr.org/VSC), our chapter will be teaching basic kayaking to Easter Seals families on an island in the middle of the Susquehanna River’s Lake Aldred. This amazing opportunity is open to you to help families with children who have a variety of disabilities learn one of the most universally adaptive sports so they, too, can enjoy constructive family activities.
We are looking at two days of paddling from 9:00 until we finish around 4:00 or so. We will have four groups of 4-6 paddlers each day. This group of soon to be kayaking phenoms will require more hands-on training than we are used to providing…as such, I need more hands!
I will supply all the boats and equipment if you can supply the assistance. We will meet at Gambler’s Campground (address below) at 9:00 am Saturday and Sunday nd be ferried to the island on pontoon boats (some of us might just paddle the half mile for fun!) where we will set up shop. Adaptive Water Skiing will take place on the North channel while Adaptive Kayaking will take place on the South channel. TRR will pay for your food and refreshments! Just bring your smile.
If you are interested, let me know.
I am looking forward to seeing you there!
